Previous chapter, we discussed the advantages of machining aluminum alloy with CNC, today we’ll discuss the problem of machinng alloywith CNC.
Aluminum alloy has low plasticity and low melting point. When parts are machined with CNC, the chip removal performance is poor and the surface roughness is also high.
Aluminum is relatively soft and tends to stick to tools. If the material of the tool is not properly selected, in the case of processing aluminum alloys, the wear of the tool often occurs due to the problems such as rod edge and chip discharge.
1. Ensure the accuracy of CNC machines. CNC machines are the carrier of aluminum parts processing, ensuring the accuracy of CNC machine is an important prerequisite.
2. Tool selection. The tool is the top priority of CNC machining, and good tools can achieve twice the result with half the effort. It is ideal to select high-speed steel tools and special aluminum alloy tools for CNC machining of aluminum parts.
3. When processing aluminum parts, high-speed tools and high-feed processing methods should be used, and the allowance should be less. Because aluminum alloy is relatively soft compared to steel, it is easy to stick to the tool when the speed is low, and it will also reduce the processing efficiency. If it is finishing, it is necessary to ensure the finish of the aluminum parts, and the feed speed can be appropriately reduced.
4. Selection of cutting fluid. Although cutting fluid is only an auxiliary material in CNC machining of aluminum parts, the selection of cutting fluid is also very important. A semi-synthetic cutting fluid should be selected for CNC machining of aluminum profiles, which is helpful for smooth chip removal.
5. Reduce the extent of deformation after cutting. This kind of problem is often encountered in the CNC machining of aluminum parts. The precision of the size measurement of the product just finished is very high, but after a while, slight deformation actually occurred. Although it can not be seen by the naked eye, it can be found that the size tolerance has increased with a measurement device, and this situation is a kind of stress deformation. In order to reduce the stress deformation, it is necessary to reduce the vibration during the machining process. After rough machining, a process to eliminate internal stress is added before finishing. This can alleviate the situation of processing deformation.
