On July 21, the 2022 Baidu World Congress was held, where Baidu unveiled the sixth generation of its unmanned car, the Apollo RT6, which it claims costs $250,000, will be in use next year, and could make taxi rides half as cheap.

The new story of RT6
According to the introduction, Baidu RT6 is derived from Baidu's self-developed "Apollo Star River" architecture platform, which is a mass production vehicle developed independently and positively designed by Baidu for future mobility. Unlike previous generations that were modified in production vehicles, Baidu says the Apollo RT6 achieves 100% vehicle-grade and full redundancy systems for the entire vehicle, with in-depth design for passenger needs and driverless travel scenarios.

In hardware, RT6 is equipped with 8 LIDARs, 6 millimeter wave radars, 12 ultrasonic radars, 12 cameras, and 1200 TOPS of whole-vehicle computing power.


in software, equipped with a fault diagnosis and risk downgrading system integrated with the whole vehicle + autopilot system, which greatly improves the safety and reliability of the vehicle.


in terms of appearance, the vehicle is equipped with interactive light language with recognition and prompting functions, intelligent electric side sliding doors that can be unlocked by entering a password.
