In orthopedic products, 3D printed surgical implant materials have also been gradually commercialized and marketed. 2007, the bio-3D printed acetabular cups for hard tissue scaffolds developed by Adler Ortho and Lima-Lto in Italy passed CE certification. 2010, the U.S. FDA approved Exactech's similar products. 2009, the U.S.

In 2013, the first bioprinted skull implant product in the U.S. was approved by the FDA, the world's first personalized 3D printed PEEK skull implant. Building on this, in 2014, the US company Oxford received FDA approval for a 3D printed maxillofacial bone product (510K model).

In addition, it was reported that in September 2015, the artificial hip joint, a 3D-printed human implant jointly developed by Beihang Medical College and Beijing Akcome Yicheng Medical Equipment Co. This means that the 3D printed implant has also entered the stage of productization.

3D printing technology has been playing an increasingly important role in medical technology innovation, and the research and application of various personalized and customized implant prosthesis, prosthetic limbs and dental implants are becoming more and more widespread. Then, the biosafety evaluation studies of implants prepared by this new process also need to be paid more and more attention.
