Sixt, Germany's largest car rental company, plans to purchase 100,000 electric cars from Chinese manufacturer BYD over the next six years. Sixt and BYD have recently announced that the first electric cars on order will go into service within the next few weeks and customers in Germany, France, the Netherlands and the UK will then be able to rent BYD's electric cars. The Sixt market is growing rapidly. Mastars can provide sheet metal stamping, cnc machining, rapid prototyping services, etc. Please click here for more information.

BYD's market is growing so rapidly that it overtook US carmaker Tesla in June this year to become the world's largest electric car maker. The company plans to reach global sales of 2 million vehicles this year, well beyond the nearly 600,000 it will sell in 2021. The European market is a key expansion target for BYD.

BYD's market

Germany's Sixtel car leasing company will buy 100,000 electric cars from China's BYD. This should be the start of a massive offensive by the Chinese electric car manufacturer. Chinese manufacturers such as BYD, Xiaopeng, AIC and SAIC, which are still little known in Germany, are figuring out how to open up the European market, according to automotive industry experts.

At the end of his tenure as chief executive of Volkswagen Group (China) for many years, Sihan Feng came to an important realisation: after decades of catching up, the Chinese car industry can already compete with the West. "In terms of electric vehicles, autonomous driving and connectivity, some Chinese suppliers are now at least on par," he told the Economic Times at the end of 2021.

Between January and September this year, BYD's cumulative sales exceeded one million units to 1,180,100, up 249.56% year-on-year. This figure far exceeded market expectations and enabled BYD to remain the number one seller of new energy vehicles in the world. Since officially bidding farewell to traditional fuel vehicles and completely switching to the sale of new energy vehicles in March this year, BYD's monthly sales have continued to reach record highs and maintained a rapid growth rate of over 100% year-on-year each month.

On 28 September, BYD introduced at the European launch of its new energy passenger cars that the first models to enter the European market will include BYD Tang, Han and the SUV ATTO 3. These three models will be officially priced at the Paris Motor Show in France in October and will be delivered in Norway, Denmark, Sweden, the Netherlands, Belgium, Germany and other European countries by the end of the year. By the end of this year, BYD will also further develop the French and UK markets.
