Overview
Usually, the products that have just been developed or designed need to be made prototyping. The prototyping is the first step to verify the feasibility of the product. It is the most direct and effective way to find out the defects, deficiencies and drawbacks of the designed products, so as to improve the defects in a targeted manner, and sometimes small batches of trial production are needed to find out deficiencies and to improve them.
The designed products are generally not perfect or even unusable. If they are put into production directly, they will all be scrapped once they are defective, which will greatly waste manpower, material resources and time; while the prototyping is generally a small number of samples, the production cycle is short, and the loss of the human and material resources are less. It can quickly find out the deficiencies of product design and improve it, and provide sufficient basis for product finalization and mass production.
Classification by production method
According to the means of production, the prototyping can be divided into manual prototyping and CNC prototyping:
(1) Manual prototyping: its main workload is done by hand. Manual prototyping is divided into ABS prototyping and clay prototyping.
(2) CNC prototyping: its main workload is completed by CNC machine, and according to the different equipment used, it can be divided into 3D printed laser rapid prototyping RP prototyping and machining center (CNC) prototyping.
The advantages of RP prototyping are mainly reflected in its rapidity, but it is mainly formed by stacking technology, so RP prototyping is generally relatively rough, and there are certain requirements for the wall thickness of the product, if the wall thickness is too thin, it cannot be produced.
The advantage of CNC prototyping is that it can reflect the information expressed in drawing very accurately, and the surface quality of CNC prototyping is high, especially after the surface spraying and silk screen printing are completed, it is even more radiant than the products produced after opening the mold. Therefore, CNC prototyping has increasingly become the mainstream of prototyping manufacturing industry.
