Metal 3D printing enables high-precision, complex parts with material efficiency. Ideal for aerospace, medical & automotive applications requiring lightweight, strong components beyond CNC capabilities.
ORNL has proposed a solution that combines 3D printing with the PM-HIP process. Firstly, 3D printing technology is used to create a complex mold structure, and then the metal powder is densely molded under high temperature and pressure by hot isostatic pressing technology.
Japanese corporate Asahi Kasei announced it has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Aquafil, an Italian manufacturer of polyamide 6 (PA6). The two companies agreed to work together on developing novel material for 3D printing.
