The revolutionary changes in the automotive industry have brought about, first of all, a change in the supply chain - the "decline" of traditional components and the rise of new ones.

Automobile parts


It must be said that the core components of traditional cars - engines and transmissions - have become much less vocal in the last two years. For one thing, many of the new models advertised by manufacturers are purely electric, eliminating the need for engines and transmissions. Secondly, the focus on traditional components is indeed becoming less and consumer interest is aimed more at the level of intelligence.

Of course, for some components that are needed for both traditional fuel and electric vehicles, industry change has not had a "life or death" impact on them, they are still flourishing and are seeing new changes.

For example, automotive glass: under the trend of electrification and intelligence, more and more new technologies are integrated into automotive glass, which is developing in the direction of "safety and comfort, energy saving and environmental protection, beauty and fashion, and intelligent integration". The proportion of high value-added products such as the increasingly popular intelligent panoramic glass, head-up display glass, dimming glass and heating glass is increasing, and the upgrading of the automotive glass industry has brought new opportunities.

Another instance For example, Tesla's integrated die-casting technology is being adopted by more electric vehicle models. The integrated die-casting application parts will be gradually extended from the rear chassis to the lower front body, middle chassis, door frame, subframe, lower body assembly, A-pillar and B-pillar, seat skeleton and the whole body-in-white. Some industry insiders said that in the context of automotive lightweighting, integrated die-casting will become mainstream and is expected to replace the traditional punching and welding process.

01 Batteries.

The battery is one of the most core components of new energy vehicles. For pure electric vehicles, the cost of the battery is the largest part of the cost of the vehicle, data shows that about 40% of the cost of the vehicle. And in the battery cost composition, 70%-80% is direct materials, upstream involving lithium, nickel, aluminum, copper, etc.

02 Electric motors.

New energy motor is also one of the three major components of new energy vehicles, commonly known as the "motor", is an important representative of the performance of electric vehicles.

03 Electronic control.

In a new energy vehicle, the electronic control system controls the operation and power output of the entire vehicle. IGBTs are used in the inverter, accounting for 40%-50% of the cost of the entire controller.

04 Autonomous driving chips.

Autonomous driving chips are on the verge of explosion and an important area for independent chips to bend and overtake. Large arithmetic chip is the basis for the realization of autonomous driving, and the current chip manufacturers are arithmetic PK on autonomous driving chips to upgrade the basic hardware to a new level.

05 Computing platforms.

The vehicle computing infrastructure platform focuses on features such as system reliability, real-time operation, distribution flexibility, and high arithmetic power to realize functions such as perception, planning, control, network connection, and cloud control, and finally complete the core functions of safe, real-time, and scalable multi-level autonomous driving.

06 Vision sensors.

Vision sensors are an important part of the autonomous driving perception system. In the perception system of intelligent vehicles, the vision sensor combines the perception information from other sensors to complete the vehicle's recognition of the environment it is in.

07 Lidar.

Most of the current advanced autonomous driving technology routes use LIDAR as one of the key sensors. However, cost remains one of the challenges for LIDAR, which is still the most expensive of the sensors.

08 Domain controllers.

Among several major automotive domains, smart cockpit domain controllers and autonomous driving domain controllers are gaining the most momentum, with both OEMs, autonomous driving startups and tech giants making a push in the domain controller space. Similar to the iterative technology line of autonomous driving, domain controllers are also gradually gaining volume through product iteration.

09 High-precision maps.

High-precision maps are a type of map specifically designed for driverless driving, capable of providing lane level navigation information. It is difficult for vehicle sensors to sense distant obstacles and lane line information. The combination of positioning + high precision maps is able to provide such information as lane lines, road edges and passable space, increasing the information redundancy of the system.

10 Internet communications.

Developments in vehicle communications technology are an important enabler for achieving higher levels of autonomous driving. 5G technology, for example, further enables multi-way communication collaboration as well as high-precision positioning capabilities to be achieved simultaneously, enhancing single-vehicle intelligent sensing, decision-making and control to a large extent.

11 Cloud control platforms.

For self-driving vehicles, the vehicle-side computing unit can collaborate with the cloud control platform. On-board computing units are limited by computing power, power consumption, size and other factors, and may not be able to support massive data calculation, so some of the computing power can be laid out on the cloud control platform to save the pressure of car-side computing.
